When I was in college in the 1960s in southern Ohio I used to gas up my motorcycle at “Workingman’s Friend Gas & Oil” which advertised “One Location For Your Convenience”. I smiled about that then, I continue to now.

Of course now Mary Ellen and I can run the same slogan.

Yes, we get calls asking for the address of our Boston office, our Atlanta office, or our offices in New York City, Denver, Houston, Montreal, and dozens of other places.

Guess what? In every case the answer is the same – we’re right here on the Palos Verdes Peninsula in southern California, half way between Los Angeles and Long Beach. One location for your convenience.

While that might not have worked out all that well for the patrons of Workingman’s Friend, it actually works out very well for our clients.

Why?

Most of us find, when it comes time to fix our alcohol abuse problems, that it pays to devote a bit of time to getting started and to get a little distance from the problem. Not a lot, just a little.

No, you don’t need to “go away to rehab” for 30, 60, or 90 days. That’s a recipe for failure for the over 95% of those who’ve tried it.

What you may find helpful, however, is a few days of focus away from the usual day-to-day distractions and that’s the first thing we offer. And for those 5 days you are the focus. No groups, no “filler”, no “meetings”, no “steps” – just a bit of research into you and your alcohol abuse problem.

Then what?

Then you head home with a plan, appropriate tools and strategies and options, and 12 weeks of working with us on the details and implementation. Because, after all, the problem still needs to be fixed in your every day life if it’s going to stay fixed.

What’s the result? After 5 mornings of focus – and afternoons to enjoy southern California – and 12 or more weeks of real follow-up and support, over 70% of our clients have achieved the outcomes they hoped for.

Does that sound a bit better than the 5% success rate residential programs offer you?

Sounds better to us to.

So why not call, discuss, and consider your options? We’re happy to talk to you, whether you reserve a spot or not.

“One day at a time?”

We suppose that’s okay, if you’re only interested in living a prisoner’s life, sitting in your cell, or cult, with the other inmates and nothing better to do that count up the days in a life sentence.

Frankly, that doesn’t have any appeal to us or to our clients.

Instead we’re focused on “doing stuff” rather than “not doing stuff”.

We don’t know of a better definition of alcohol abuse than “not doing stuff”. Nor is there a better cure than learning what things interest you and how to put these activities together, with your strengths and abilities, to come up with solutions to whatever underlies your drinking.

Lonely? Bored? Anxious? Angry? Depressed?

We’ll help you figure out proactive ways to combat these demons that keep you despairing and drinking.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Assertiveness Training, Motivational Enhancement, Exercise, Diet, and whatever else it takes to form your particular recipe for success. No groups, no labels, no one-size-fits-all, no stigma or invasions of your privacy. Just successful, permanent relief and a far better life.

Isn’t it time for you, and perhaps you and your spouse together, to let yourselves have affordable, effective, and confidential short term help?

Isn’t it time to get back to doing stuff?

That’s what we thought – so give us a call and let’s start sorting out the possibilities.

And Now a Word From Tequila!
